What to expect:

  • Old-school bangers (90’s and 00’s tunes galore)

  • Solid warm-up + fun, open-level choreography

  • Disco lights, laughs & zero pressure

  • A space made for Millennials + Gen Xers who still love to move

The origins of Throwback Dance…

After first stepping into a dance studio at 4 years old and after 20 years of dance training, teaching and a professional dance career, I stepped away from my passion - until my late 30s, when I realised that not dancing and teaching was the source of my unhappiness.

But at that age, finding a class that matched what I needed was harder than I expected. Most ‘adult’ classes (generally adult meant anything over 16 years old) were either too basic or too intense - I needed a less competitive environment and I knew that meant others did too. A space where people of any age could enjoy a dance class.

Returning to dance in my late 30s reminded me how much joy movement brings - and highlighted the lack of welcoming, open-level classes for adults who wanted to feel challenged without the pressure of competition. Now in my late 40’s I still love bringing the joy of dance to people of all ages. That’s how Throwback Dance was born.

Meet the teacher…

Stacey has been dancing for over 40 years and completed her Certificate III in Dance at the renowned Bartuccio studio in 1997. A teacher and performer for more than two decades, she has taught at studios across Melbourne and was previously the owner of Power Points Dance in Port Melbourne. With a love for commercial jazz, 90’s funk and high-energy routines, Stacey brings both technique and passion to every class.

Outside the studio, she’s a proud cat mama, K-Pop enthusiast, corporate HR professional, and unapologetic boyband fan girl (expect plenty of boyband tracks on the playlist!).

Join Stacey on Tuesdays at 6:30pm at Coco Ella Studio in Prahran, Melbourne for a fun, feel-good class that celebrates music, movement, and good vibes.

“Taking Throwback Dance classes with Stacey has been such a blast! Her classes are always fun, inclusive, and a fantastic way to stay active. What I love most is that her teaching style is perfect for everyone—whether you're a beginner or more experienced like me. She strikes the perfect balance, offering both approachable moves and a good challenge to keep things exciting. Stacey's motto is simple: just have fun and give it a go—and that energy is contagious! She brings so much enthusiasm to every class, but also expects a lot, pushing everyone to give their best. Thanks to her, the final routine always comes together with precision and energy!”

“Throwback Dance is more than a dance class, it's a dance family.  Where everyone is welcome, whether you've been dancing together for decades like some of us or it's the first time you found it.  Stacey loves music and she loves dance and this pours out of her in every class. The #1 rule is to have fun. With banger tunes, stories about every song choice to build the excitement and super fun choreography, it's impossible not to have the time of your life.  I walk out feeling so alive and joyful every single time.  It's not just a vibe, it's THE vibe.”
